What’s Your Travel Plan for 2026? Last-Minute Adventures or Long-Planned Dreams?

If you’re anything like me, the start of a new year always brings the same exciting question:
What adventures will this year hold?
So, let me ask you something…
What are your travel plans for 2026?
Are you the kind of person who books trips a year in advance, with colour-coded spreadsheets, carefully planned itineraries and accommodation locked in before the countdown even begins?
Or are you a last-minute adventurer?
I’ll admit it — I’m a bit of both. Despite usually knowing where we want to go months (sometimes years) ahead, we still somehow end up booking parts of our trips much later than planned. There’s something thrilling about that flexibility, the sense that the journey can still evolve.
Travel Plans in an Unpredictable World
Over the past few weeks, global travel has faced another reminder that plans don’t always go exactly as expected. With the ongoing issues affecting Middle East airspace, flights around the world have been disrupted, rerouted, delayed, and in some cases cancelled entirely.
I’ve heard countless stories recently from friends, family, clients and work colleagues about:
Unexpected delays
Being stranded in airports
Rerouted flights adding hours to journeys
Entire destination changes
Travel, as we know, always carries an element of unpredictability — but this has certainly been a reminder of just how connected global routes really are.
For us, we were lucky. We arrived home just a few weeks before the disruption began.
However, it will probably influence where we travel this year — or more specifically, the routes we take to get there.
Sometimes the destination stays the same, but the journey changes.
An Epic Start to the Year
Our year started with what can only be described as an epic return to my favourite place in the world. It was one of those trips that fills your soul and reminds you exactly why you love travelling so much.
Honestly? It will be a very hard trip to beat.
But of course, that doesn’t stop us trying.
What’s on the 2026 Adventure List?
Our travel calendar this year is a mixture of things:
A few trips already in the diary
Some adventures fully booked
Others still vague and flexible
A couple of short breaks later in the year that haven’t been booked yet
And somewhere in those plans, we’re hoping that at least one trip will tick off another destination from either mine or Craig’s “Top 5 Must Visit” list.
Those lists never seem to get shorter, do they?
Planning Adventures Before the Boys Grow Up
One trip I’m particularly excited about planning this year is an adventure for the boys.
If you’re a parent, you’ll understand the feeling — there’s a window of time where travelling together as a family is magical, before the day comes when travelling with Mum is suddenly no longer considered cool.
So I’m making the most of it while I can.
This one needs to be memorable, adventurous and packed with the kind of experiences they’ll still talk about years from now.
What Makes the Perfect Trip?
Everyone travels differently, and I love hearing what makes a trip special for other people.
For me, a destination needs to include a few key things:
Water — preferably the ocean
Wildlife
Marine life and birds
Outdoor adventures
Natural landscapes
And one thing it absolutely does not need?
A beige hotel.
You know the ones — interchangeable, characterless, could be anywhere in the world.
Give me wild coastlines, cabins, eco-lodges, beach houses, national parks and nature every time.
Travel should feel like an experience, not just a place to sleep.
Let’s Talk Travel
One of the things I love most about writing Eat Clean, Health and Dream is the community of people who share the same passion for exploring the world.
So tell me:
Are you a last-minute booker or a long-term planner?
Has recent flight disruption affected your travel plans?
What destinations are on your 2026 list?
Keep following the blog as I share all our 2026 trips and adventures throughout the year.
And if you're ever looking for ideas, inspiration or help planning a possible itinerary, feel free to drop me a message. I absolutely love talking travel and helping plan the next adventure — even if it isn’t my own.
After all…
The next great trip always starts with a simple question:
Where to next? 🌍✈️
