Can you believe we're already into July?
The school holidays are almost here, and I'm left wondering where the first half of the year has disappeared!
So, what are your plans this summer? Are you heading off on holiday, planning a few day trips, catching up with family and friends, or embracing a staycation at home?
Living in beautiful North Devon, we're incredibly lucky to have some of the UK's most stunning beaches right on our doorstep. It's easy to forget that people travel for hours to enjoy what we have just a short drive away!
That said, as our boys are getting older (now 11 and 14), planning family activities has become a little more challenging. What one enjoys, the other isn't always so keen on! Add the girls into the mix, and finding something that keeps everyone happy can feel like quite the mission.
I'm currently trying to pull together a list of ideas before the school holidays begin. I'd love to include a mixture of beach days, woodland walks, picnics, paddleboarding, surfing, and definitely a lot of water based activities as well as some cycling, perhaps a trip to abroad, and hopefully a few quieter days at home too. Sometimes the simplest days spent together are the ones that create the best memories.
Of course, summer also means trying to keep everyone fuelled with healthy snacks and easy meals between adventures. I'll definitely be sharing some of our favourite recipes over the coming weeks to help make holiday eating both simple and nutritious.
I'd love to hear what everyone else has planned.
Are you jetting off somewhere sunny?
Staying local and exploring your area?
Have you discovered any hidden gems that are perfect for families with older children?
Or do you have any activities that are guaranteed to keep teenagers away from their screens for a few hours?
Please share your ideas and recommendations in the comments, they might just inspire another family's summer adventure!
Whatever you're doing this summer, I hope it's filled with laughter, fresh air, good food, and plenty of opportunities to make wonderful memories with the people you love.
Here's to a happy, healthy summer!
