Sometimes You Just Have to Say... "F**k It!" (And Step Out of Your Comfort Zone)

Have you ever done something that has completely taken you out of your comfort zone?

If the answer is yes, then trust me...you're not alone.

And if the answer is no, then maybe it's time to ask yourself why.

Anyone who knows me will know two things about me. Firstly, I'm not great with technology.

Secondly, computer jargon might as well be another language! Give me women's health, nutrition, menopause education or helping someone transform their wellbeing and I'm in my happy place. Ask me to sort out coding, redirects, forms, automations or website errors and I immediately want to hide under a blanket!

But over the last few months I decided to do something that scared me...

I built my new LK Health & Wellbeing website.

Not just a simple website, but a place that brings together everything I want to offer women. A one-stop wellbeing hub. Somewhere that supports women through every stage of life with trusted, non-clinical health and wellbeing advice, coaching, programmes, resources, community and workplace support.

Now, my previous website, I could update it and change bits here and there, but that was about the extent of my technical abilities, despite having put this blog together a couple of years ago now.

Building an entire website with multiple pages, memberships, online programmes, bookings, downloads, forms, blogs and all the behind-the-scenes bits?

Absolutely not.

Or so I thought.

The Moment I Thought... "F**k It!"

Excuse the language...

Actually, don't!

Anyone in my close friendship group will tell you that "F**k it!" has become my phrase of choice over the last couple of years.

Sometimes it's exactly what you need to say.

Because I realised I had two choices.

I could keep waiting until I knew enough.

Or...

I could just start.

So with the help of Wix's brilliant templates and a lot of determination, I took a deep breath and got going.

Fast forward around a month...

Late nights.

Very early mornings before my day job.

Weekends.

Lunch breaks.

Every spare minute I could find.

And somehow...

I built it.

It Wasn't All Plain Sailing

There were definitely tears.

Lots of swearing.

A few stroppy moments.

Plenty of tiredness.

I'm normally a 9.30–10.00 pm latest bedtime kind of girl, so burning the midnight oil really isn't my thing.

Craig was incredibly supportive, although I could tell towards the end he was probably wondering if he'd ever get my full attention back! Every conversation seemed to revolve around "the website."

Looking back now, I'm not surprised, as I feel same when he's fully absorbed in the shop or building project.

This project completely consumed me.

Launch Day... Then Disaster!

I finally launched the website last Saturday.

What an amazing feeling.

Well...

For about five minutes!

As expected, there were a few little teething problems. Nothing unusual considering almost everything I'd built was something I'd never done before.

But then came the one issue that nearly tipped me over the edge.

For nearly 48 hours, things just weren't working properly.

Cue the stress.

The overthinking.

The brain ache.

The constant Googling.

The "Why on earth isn't this working?"

Thankfully, a lovely friend over in New Zealand spotted the problem and messaged me.

At 6 o'clock this morning (UK time), coffee in hand and determination levels high, I think I finally cracked it.

After breaking nearly every homepage link...

Rebuilding them...

Questioning every decision I'd ever made...

I eventually realised the culprit was something I'd accidentally created in the background.

A waiver and intake form.

One tiny thing causing complete chaos.

Delete.

Refresh.

Everything worked.

Honestly...the relief!

Did I enjoy those 48 hours?

Absolutely not.

But solving it myself?

That felt pretty good.

What Started as One Vision Became Something Bigger

If I'm honest, I massively underestimated just how much work this project would involve.

My original scribbled plans have changed beyond recognition.

The more I've learned, the more possibilities I've discovered.

The website will continue to evolve.

There are so many ideas still to come.

More programmes.

More resources.

More support.

More ways to help women feel healthier, happier and more confident.

The exciting part?

Now I know what's possible.

And as my confidence grows, so will the website.

The Voice Note That Stopped Me in My Tracks

A friend sent me a voice note the other morning.

She simply said...

"Do you actually realise what you've done? You didn't pay someone else to build it. You stepped completely out of your comfort zone and you did it yourself."

That really hit me.

Because she's right.

If I'd let fear win...

If I'd carried on procrastinating...

If I'd convinced myself I wasn't technical enough...

None of this would exist.

Instead, I'm sat here this morning with a coffee, smiling at something that I'm genuinely proud of.

Not because it's perfect.

Far from it.

But because I created it.

So...What's Holding You Back?

That's really why I'm writing this blog.

Not to tell you about a website.

Not to tell you how many late nights it took.

But to remind you that sometimes the biggest thing standing in our way is ourselves.

We tell ourselves we're not ready.

We don't know enough.

We're too old.

Too inexperienced.

Not clever enough.

Not technical enough.

What if it goes wrong?

But what if it goes right?

What if you're far more capable than you've ever given yourself credit for?

Imagine where you could be six months from now if you simply started today.

Not perfectly.

Just consistently.

One small step at a time.

Because confidence doesn't usually come before action.

It comes because of action.

Your Challenge

So I'm leaving you with three questions...

  • What is it you've always wanted to do?

  • What's genuinely stopping you?

  • What's one small step you could take this week to move closer to making it happen?

I'd genuinely love to hear your stories, so leave me a comment or send me a message.

And if you fancy having a look at what all those late nights produced, go and have a nosey around LK Health & Wellbeing.

It's not perfect.

Neither am I.

But it's real, it's built with passion, and I couldn't be prouder of what it's becoming.

Sometimes all it takes is one brave decision.

Sometimes that decision starts with saying...

"Fk it...I'm going for it."**

And honestly?

I'm so glad I did.
